Overview
Accept payments across Latin America with Bamboo. Process cards, bank transfers, and alternative payment methods through one API.
Bamboo offers two Payins models — Payfac and Gateway , to adapt to different regulatory and operational realities across Latin America. Each model delivers the same developer experience through a unified API, allowing you to scale across multiple countries.
Transaction Types
Bamboo supports multiple transaction types that represent different stages of the payment lifecycle. Each type has its own purpose, flow, and status transitions depending on the acquirer and payment method.
Purchase
Creates a new transaction to charge a card or alternative payment method (APM).
Refund
Returns funds from a completed purchase, either fully or partially.
Chargeback
Represents a dispute initiated by the cardholder through their issuing bank.
Transaction Statuses
Transactions in Bamboo may go through the following statuses during their lifecycle. Some statuses may not apply to certain transaction types (e.g., Refund or Chargeback)
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
APPROVED | The transaction was successfully authorized and approved by the acquirer. Funds may still be pending settlement depending on the payment method. |
PENDING | The transaction is awaiting confirmation or processing. Applies to cases where acquirer response, or asynchronous APM confirmation is required. |
PRE-AUTHORIZED | Funds are reserved on the customer’s card but not yet captured. The merchant must complete the capture to finalize the charge. |
REJECTED | The transaction was declined by the acquirer or failed due to validation errors, insufficient funds, or fraud prevention rules. |
CANCELLED | The transaction was voided before settlement, either by the merchant or automatically by the acquirer after expiration. |
Status progression and availability may vary by acquirer, payment method, and transaction type.
